Professor
of
Computer Information Systems
Department of
Management & Information Sciences
I am a Professor of CIS and have been at USI since the early 1990s. I completed
my bachelor degree (in CIS) at Western KY University, and I completed my
doctorate (DBA) in Business Administration - with a major in MIS (management
information systems) at University of Southern Illinois - Carbondale. I continue
to live in rural Webster County Kentucky where my husband, Dale, and I have
lived all our lives.
Dale and I are "empty nesters" as our 3 daughters are grown. Our oldest daughter
is in San Francisco, our middle daughter here in Evansville, and the youngest
lives near Kentucky Lake. For a large part of the last 10 years we have shared
our home with elderly family members, but at the moment it is just Dale, our
Malti-Shu, Miss Priss, Kitty Black, 5 ducks, a donkey, some cattle, and me. Dale
is a Cumberland Presbyterian Minister, an Electrician and Deputy Coroner of
Webster County. We have two precious grandsons and spend much of our free time
with our family and/or our church family.
I am quite social and love to talk! I love to meet new people with different
stories to tell. I love to plant and play in my flower beds in the spring and
summer, and I really enjoy swimming. Reading is definitely a passion of mine,
and I am most happy with a novel. I love to discuss politics and religion – even
though I know these are “touchy” subjects for many!
I love teaching. I teach because I love to meet people and I love to share with
others. I hope I can have a positive impact on your life. I know education can
and will change your life --- “rock your world!” I want to be a part of that! I
learn so much from my students and every day I teach is exciting.
I believe that whatever we do in life should be fun. I expect my students to
enjoy my classes – I certainly will! My desire is to provoke you to think and to
motivate you to learn. I promise to do this in an environment that is fun and
open and in an environment where your ideas will always be heard and respected.
