Why would I want a Finance degree?
Business, both large and small,
must learn to make good financial decisions to be successful. An undergraduate
degree in finance would equip you with the skills necessary to assist businesses and
households in their financial decisions. The Evansville economy has a strong and
well-diversified financial services industry where finance majors can expect to find
excellent employment opportunities.
What is the study of Finance concerned
with?
The study of
finance is concerned with the monetary issues faced by millions of individuals and
organizations, whether public or private. Raising funds is a vital issue for new
businesses and for existing firms who are looking for expansion. Investment is
another crucial matter firms have to deal with. Decisions related to saving,
borrowing, and investment, can have great impact on the financial success of individuals,
firms or organizations. Closely tied to these decisions are questions relating to
risk and valuation. A degree in finance will prepare you to both understand and
reason through a wide spectrum of fundamental financial decisions. A finance program
of study relies heavily upon skills taught in courses in law, accounting, economics,
