If you like working with computers, solving problems, and are creative, you will enjoy success in a career in Computer Science.  Graduates with a degree in Computer Science (CS) are prepared to take advantage of the opportunities in one of the fastest growing fields in the Tri-State area and in the United States.

Career Opportunities
The Applied Computer Science program at USI is designed to prepare students for careers in programming, system analysis, system development, and other information technology areas in a business or organizational environment.   This can lead to management positions in all types of organizations.  As an Applied Computer Science graduate of USI you will have opportunities in:

  • Utilities
  • Government
    (US Civil Service requires the Technical Option)

Study
The Applied Computer Science program at USI is taught by a highly qualified faculty, most of whom have doctoral degrees. Applied Computer Science students will study:

  • Network Management & Security

CO-OP and Internship Opportunities
Applied Computer Science majors at USI have opportunities to participate in USI’s Business and Professional Practice Program.  This is a partnership between USI and area employers.  Junior- and senior-level Applied Computer Science majors are employed in part-time (internship) or full-time (co-op) positions in business.  Students have worked for manufacturing companies, accounting firms, small businesses, and government agencies.  These jobs allow students to learn professional skills in the business environment while earning college credits.
