In 2006-2007, 40 College of Business students competed and participated in local, regional, and national conferences in accounting, marketing, entrepreneurship, human resources, information technology, and economics and finance.
Attracting qualified students
The College of Business enrolls more than 1,900 students. Last year 100 scholarships were awarded. The college plans for more students to have financial support and reward for their academic endeavors.
Breaking ground for the future
Groundbreaking took place in July 2008 for the new Business and Engineering Center. This facility will provide state-of-the-art classrooms, collaborative work space, and laboratories to prepare business students for careers in today's workplace.
The new Business and Engineering Center to open in 2010 represents the latest step in the college's growth as an academic unit preparing graduates who are a cut above. Other accomplishments show clear evidence of the college's growth and special position in the region.
- Since the University first conferred degrees in 1971, more than 7,800 business degrees (including 439 M.B.A. degrees) have been awarded.
- Southwestern Indiana realizes a substantial "Brain Gain" from the employment of College of Business graduates. Recent College of Business graduates who responded to a survy by USI Career Services and Placement indiacted 80 percent were employed within 60 miles of the University.
- College of Business graduates are successful in finding employment in their fields of study. Among graduates who responded to a recent survey, 96 percent were employed in their fields of study.
- All programs are accredited by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and the accounting program has special accreditation. The college is one of only 549 AACSB accredited business schools; the accounting program is one of 150 accredited accounting programs.
- The USI College of Business focuses on a select core of disciplines important to the needs of this region.
