See a diagram of the "MBA Proposed Plan of Study".
A. Foundation Skills
All candidates for admission to the MBA program must demonstrate proficiency in
computer skills. Proficiency may be established by successfully completing
college level course work within five years of admission to the MBA program or
by passing a proficiency exam provided through the MBA office.
B. Prerequisite Courses - up to 18 credit hours
Students whose undergraduate educational preparation does not include
accounting, economics, finance, marketing, operations research or statistics
need to take the appropriate prerequisite courses:
All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to taking the corresponding core
class and/or more than twelve hours of the graduate core.
C. Graduate Core - 30 credit hours
The USI MBA curriculum is designed to provide the educational foundation
crucial for success in today's dynamic business world. For most students with
undergraduate business degrees our program consists of ten, three-hour
courses. Students with degrees in fields other than business may need to take
up to 18 hours of prerequisite courses to prepare them for the rigors of the
following core classes:
| MNGT 611 |
Leadership Skills |
| ACCT 601 |
Accounting for Decision Making & Control |
| BLAW 618 |
Legal and Social Environment of Business |
| CIS 601 |
Information Systems and Technology |
| DSCI 601 |
Quantitative Methods for Business Decisions |
| ECON 601 |
Business Economics and Forecasting |
| FIN 601 |
Financial Management and Financial Markets |
| MKTG 601 |
Marketing Strategies |
| MNGT 601 |
Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management |
| MNGT 681 |
Strategic and International Management |
A successful progression of the MBA Program would consist of:
- Beginning with MGNT 611 (Leadership Skills & Organizational Behavior) is measured as a cornerstone and should be taken as one of the first graduate-level courses.
- Concluding with MNGT 681 (Strategic & International Management) is considered as the capstone of the MBA program and should be taken as one of the last graduate-level courses.
D. Retention
No more than two grades below a "B" in graduate core courses
will be accepted toward the MBA degree. Upon receipt of the third grade
below a "B" in any three graduate core courses, the student will
be academically dismissed from the program.
A student who is academically dismissed may appeal to the
College of Business Graduate Committee. |
